Resumo: This paper deals with the debate regarding the sufficiency of Misesian praxeology for the elucidation of economic phenomena and their compatibility with the Hayekian theory of communication and the acquisition of knowledge in specific institutional contexts, as both were developed from the debate of the economic calculation, occurred in the decades of 1920 and 1930. In this sense, the two groups that led the debate were formed, on the one hand, by those who argue that the Austrian School was divided between the Misesian and Hayekian paradigms and, on the other, those who argue that the core of the Austrian distinctive approach is based on both Mises and Hayek.
