Phospholipids Retard and Cholesterol and Its Derivatives Promote the Formation of Tumors Induced by Carcinogenic Hidrocarbons

Resumo: It could be experimentally proved that phospholipids retard and cholesterol and its derivatives promote the formation of tumors induced by carcinogenic hydrocarbons. No sufficient stress can be laid upon the important phenomenon that two very common groups of lipids, i. e. natural components of whatever animal cell, positively influence the mechanism of carcinogenesis. The fact that phospholipids and cholesterol, besides proteins, constitute quantitatively speaking the most important components of cell membranes, led to the logic reasoning that cell surfaces actually do represent a key position in cancer etiology. A series of thusfar ununderstood phenomena can thus be explained satisfactorily.

Acentua-se a suma importância deste fenômeno, pois trata-se de dois grupos de lipídeos comuns, aliás componentes naturais de qualquer célula animal, capazes de influenciar, positivamente, o mecanismo da carcinogênese.
