PERFORMANCE OF THE DENTAL SURGEON IN HEALTH PROMOTION IN THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT: an integrative review on the dental practice with hospitalized patients

This is a descriptive and exploratory qualitative study of the integrative literature review type, whose objective was to determine in the period from 2015 to 2022 what has raised in the literature on the practice of hospital dentistry, thus evidencing the possibilities of promoting care with the oral health in hospital environments. The search for the material took place considering the theme of hospital dentistry, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, which were indexed in the databases: Scielo, Medline, Lilacs and Redalyc whose production modalities were: original articles in case studies, experience reports, theoretical study, research report. Initially, 1.030 articles were collected, of which 350 articles were excluded after reading the titles, resulting in 680 articles, of which the abstracts were read, 602 articles were excluded, resulting in 78 articles that, after reading in full, 64 articles were excluded. , resulting in a sample of 14 articles. The study made it possible to verify that the presence of the dentist in the hospital environment plays an important role with the team in the care of hospitalized patients, due to the technical capacity to promote care regarding oral hygiene.
