[Re]visiting Anthropology and Education in the mid-20th century: Anísio Teixeira’s Columbia Project to Josildeth Gomes Consorte

Resumo: This study seeks to understand through the trajectory of Brazilian anthropologist Josildeth Gomes Consorte the links between Anthropology and Education in the 1940s and 1950s in Brazil, especially, the importance of the Columbia Project as a fundamental experience for the later creation of the Brazilian Center of Education Research (CBPE) by Anísio Teixeira. Interviews with the author and articles in which she revisits the period from the 1940s to 1950s and the theme of education as a topic of consideration are analyzed, in addition to historical-documentary academic debates about the Columbia Project. Therefore, the state of Bahia and the circulation of intellectuals derived directly or indirectly from the Columbia Project promoted for many researchers the initiation into anthropology, as well as the materialization of doctoral research degrees, not only due to an influx of foreigners, but with an outflow of Brazilians to the United States, as Josildeth's academic trajectory elucidated.

Se analizan entrevistas con la autora y artículos en los que revisita el periodo de 1940 a 1950y el tema de la educación como objeto de reflexión, además de los debates académicos históricos y documentales sobre el Proyecto Columbia. Así, Bahía y la circulación de intelectuales derivada directa o indirectamente del proyecto promovieron la iniciación en la antropología de muchos investigadores y la realización de tesis doctorales, no sólo con la llegada de extranjeros, sino con la salida de brasileños a los Estados Unidos, siendo la trayectoria de Josildeth dilucida a este movimiento.O artigo tem o objetivo de compreender por meio da trajetória da antropóloga baiana Josildeth Gomes Consorte as articulações entre a antropologia e a educação nas décadas de 1940 e 1950 no Brasil, sobretudo, a importância do Projeto Columbia como uma experiência fundamental para a posterior criação do Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais (CBPE) por Anísio Teixeira. Analisam-se entrevistas com a autora e artigos em que ela retoma o período da década de 1940-1950 e a temática da educação como objetos de reflexão, além de debates acadêmicos de cunho histórico-documental sobre o Projeto Columbia.
