Resumo: Work is a social activity that plays a key role in the living conditions of human beings and is directly related to meeting the basic needs of life. This research aimed to assess safety in an intensive care unit from the perspective of health professionals. To meet the purpose of this research, the methodology of a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach through a questionnaire was used. The results showed that most professionals at the hospital surveyed adopt safe measures in the performance of their functions, considering the work environment safe and that they have not suffered any type of accident, highlighting positive data regarding their safety, although a minority indicate the contrary. It is concluded that more effective measures to guarantee the safety of these professionals are necessary. In addition to encouraging changes in behavior through continuing education.
