Resumo: Among the most used integrative therapies, reiki stands out, which is an oriental therapy characterized by the laying on of hands on individuals at specific points in order to restore physical, mental and spiritual balance. Objective: This study aims to compile recent data regarding the benefits of complementary integrative therapies, with a focus on reiki through a literature review. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review based on the search and selection of articles in the databases of the BDENF, LILACS and SciELO platforms, based on the keywords established, in the period from 2015 to 2019. Results: Group in the following categories: the nurse's view regarding the use of complementary integrative therapies; the nurse's role in reiki; and the effect of reiki as a complementary treatment. Conclusion: It reinforces the importance of the nursing professional having these care tools to treat symptoms of diseases, and the best opportunity to offer them to the population within health institutions, resulting in an improvement in the quality of life. A greater number of trained professionals is needed, institutions that contain such practices in their academic curriculum and a greater possibility of conducting research in this area to prove the effectiveness of these practices.
