Resumo: Objective: To describe the impacts of performing intermittent bladder catheterization on injured spinal cord to improve their quality of life. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review where the research was consulted in the following electronic databases: Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO), Scientific and Technical Literature of Latin America and the Caribbean (LILACS) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) ). Two articles were obtained through Google Academics, in which they were selected from 2014 to 2019. Results: 12 scientific articles were selected, of which two categories were identified: the social impact caused by spinal cord injury and the nurse's role in guidance of auto bladder catheterization. Conclusion: understands the benefits brought about by performing clean intermittent bladder catheterization, in a technical and oriented way, leading to a better quality of life for the spinal cord injured person.

Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura onde as pesquisas foram consultadas nas seguintes bases de dados eletrônicas: Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO), Literatura Cientifica e Técnica da América Latina e Caribe (LILACS) e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). Obteve-se dois artigos através do Google Academics, em que foram selecionados no período de 2014 a 2019. Resultados: Foram selecionados 12 artigos científicos, dos quais identificaram-se duas categorias: o impacto social causado pela lesão medular e o papel do enfermeiro na orientação do auto cateterismo vesical.
