Resumo: Objective: To identify the challenges experienced by family caregivers of elderly with disease of Alzheimer’s and describes the importance of professional nurses in patient care with Alzheimer's. Methodology: This is an integrative review study, collected on the basis from 2015 to 2019, through the survey of articles through the databases Latin American Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and VHL Nursing. Results: Was evidenced that when throughout the period of Alzheimer's disease, the caregiver experiences different situations and physical, mental and social difficulties that influence the  coexistence and care of the elderly with Alzheimer's disease. Conclusion: Take care of a family member with illness Alzheimer's disease requires the caregiver to learn to live with the other person's suffering and often hide their own pain and needs. The condition of those who take care of the elderly with Alzheimer's disease warns health professionals about the importance of promoting strategies that will enable them to raise the standard of living of these caregivers and Alzheimer's disease.

Objetivo: Identificar os desafios vivenciados por cuidadores familiares de idosos com doença de Alzheimer e descrever a importância do profissional enfermeiro nos cuidados do paciente com Alzheimer. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo de revisão integrativa, coletado na base de dados no período de 2015 a 2019, através do levantamento de artigos por meio das bases de dados da Literatura Latino Americana em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), da Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO) e BVS Enfermagem. Resultados: Evidenciaram que ao longo do período da doença de Alzheimer, o cuidador vivencia diferentes situações e dificuldades de ordem física, mental e social que influenciam na convivência e no cuidado do idoso com Doença de Alzheimer. Conclusão: Cuidar de um membro da família com doença de Alzheimer requer que o cuidador aprenda a conviver com o sofrimento da outra pessoa e, muitas vezes, oculte sua própria dor e necessidades.
