Resumo: Objective: To describe means of prevention and the act of obstetric violence. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review study, which represents a type of complex universe review, seeking standardized and systematic methods to ensure the necessary rigorous diligence in scientific research and the authenticity of established evidence, with a qualitative approach. through scientific articles. It was developed with publications indexed from 2014 to 2019, being made several consultations in the large electronic databases of the Virtual Health Library (VHL) - BIREME and Scientific Electronic Library Online –Scielo. Results: Twenty articles that fit the proposed research theme were selected. The articles used were analyzed and interpreted precisely so that they were later allocated into categories. Conclusion: At the end of this study, based on the results, it can be stated that obstetric violence is still very common in Brazil. The risks and discomfort generated by such acts have been developed by professionals seeking continuing education and training in institutions to reduce obstetric violence in the country.

Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo do tipo revisão integrativa da literatura, que representa um tipo de revisão de universo complexo, buscando métodos normatizados e sistemáticos para assegurar o necessário rigor diligenciado na pesquisa científica e a autenticidade das evidências estabelecidas, com abordagem qualitativa por meio de artigos científicos. Foi desenvolvido com publicações indexadas no período de 2014 a 2020, sendo realizadas diversas consultas nos amplos bancos de dados eletrônicos da Biblioteca |Virtual de Saúde (BVS) - BIREME e Scientific Eletronic Library Online –Scielo. Resultados: Foram selecionados 14 artigos que se adequavam ao tema proposto da pesquisa. Os artigos utilizados foram analisados e interpretados precisamente para que desta forma fossem alocados posteriormente em categorias. Conclusão: Ao final deste estudo com base nos resultados encontrados pode se afirmar que a violência obstétrica ainda é muito comum no Brasil, no entanto é necessário que haja uma reavaliação da eficácia e da real necessidade das intervenções obstétricas por parte dos profissionais, levando em consideração os riscos e o desconforto gerado por tais atos.
