Death as “work companion”: implications on the healthcare team in the hospital context

Resumo: The hospital influence in the healthcare team affects them in their individual constructions, in their relationship with others and the world. Adds to the work, the grieving process from significant losses generated by the bonds created between team, patient and family. The present work has the intention to understand how the healthcare professional is affected when facing death in the hospital context, as well as the possible implications for its psychic functioning. The relationship between stressful situations in the workplace stands out as risk factors, having in return the development of coping strategies as facilitators of adequate elaboration. The research consists of a bibliographical research of an exploratory nature, which used as search field the Periódicos Eletrônicos em Psicologia (PEPsic), o Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), o Portal de Periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Brasil (CAPES), books, theses and dissertations. It is concluded that the way in which one deals with the psychological suffering resulting from a significant loss, proved to be of fundamental importance in achieving a healthier experience.

Destaca-se a relação das situações estressoras no âmbito de trabalho como fatores de risco, tendo em contrapartida o desenvolvimento de estratégias de enfrentamento como facilitadoras de uma elaboração adequada A pesquisa consiste em uma pesquisa bibliográfica de natureza exploratória, no qual utilizou como campo de busca os Periódicos Eletrônicos em Psicologia (PEPsic), o Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), o Portal de Periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Brasil (CAPES), livros, teses e dissertações.
