Semantic and content validity evidences in the construction of a Death and Grief Perception Assessment Instrument

Resumo: The objective of this study is to report the semantic and content validation in the construction of the items of a questionnaire to evaluate the perception of death and grief. The construction of the questionnaire aimed to understand how people perceive death and grief today. The questionnaire was analyzed by seven evaluators who served as judges to perform the content analysis. Changes, additions and deletions of some items were suggested after expert analysis. The semantic analysis was performed by a group of university students and by the target audience of different social classes and age group. The analysis indicated that the instrument has evidences of semantic validity and content, being an easy to understand questionnaire, but should be used in people with complete elementary level, above 18 years.

The analysis indicated that the instrument has evidences of semantic validity and content, being an easy to understand questionnaire, but should be used in people with complete elementary level, above 18 years.Este estudo tem por objetivo relatar a construção, bem como a validação semântica e de conteúdo dos itens de um questionário de avaliação da percepção sobre morte e luto. O questionário objetiva compreender como as pessoas percebem a morte e o luto na atualidade. A formulação dos itens baseou-se na literatura clássica e recente sobre o tema. O questionário foi analisado por sete juízes, que sugeriram mudanças, inclusões e exclusões de algumas afirmações e foi respondido por 203 participantes.
