The role of the family in promoting healthy aging in the elderly: an integrative review

Resumo: The study aimed to investigate the importance of the family in promoting healthy aging in the elderly in scientific literature. This is a bibliographic research of the integrative literature review type, with data extracted from LILACS, BDENF and IBECS via the VHL, SCOPUS and WEB OF SCIENCE platforms. 1299 primary study articles were identified whose theme was on the role of the family in the healthy aging of the elderly population, published in English, Spanish and Portuguese in the years 2018 to 2023 through the Descriptors in Sciences and Health (DECS) and Medical Subject Headings (MESH) indexed in the aforementioned databases. The exclusion criteria were: duplicate production, theses and dissertations, review articles, opinion articles and theoretical essays, letters to the editor, bulletins and summaries, incomplete articles, books, monographs, manuals and guides. The results showed that there is an aging population and for it to be healthy, the family needs to understand how this process occurs, the particularities of this phase of life, even with changes in family patterns there is a need to continue care and attention to elderly. It is concluded from this work that along with population aging, there is a need to know the senescence process of the human being and all the characteristics attributed to it, family is the main support network for the elderly, being the closest people who care in moments of dependence

Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica do tipo revisão integrativa da literatura, com dados extraídos do LILACS, BDENF e IBECS via plataforma BVS, SCOPUS e WEB OF SCIENCE. Foram identificados 1299 artigos estudos primários cuja a temática foi sobre o papel da família frente ao envelhecimento saudável da população idosa, publicados em inglês, espanhol e português nos anos de 2018 a 2023 por meio dos Descritores em Ciências e Saúde (DECS) e Medical Subject Headings (MESH) indexados nas bases de dados supracitadas, sendo selecionados para o desenvolvimento do trabalho apenas 08 artigos. Os critérios de exclusão foram: produção duplicada, teses e dissertações, artigos de revisão, de opinião e ensaios teóricos, cartas ao editor, boletins e resumos, artigos incompletos, livros, monografias, manuais e guias. Os resultados mostraram que existe um envelhecimento populacional e para que seja de forma saudável, a família precisa compreender como se dá esse processo, as particularidades dessa fase da vida, mesmo com as mudanças nos padrões familiares existe a necessidade de perdurar o cuidado e atenção aos idosos.
