Resumo: The article aims to demonstrate the role played by the Nova Escola Magazine in the history of Brazilian education and its cultural influence in the Educational Reform implemented in the country in the 1990s. Adopting as central hypothesis the idea that the Nova Escola Magazine assumed the task of implementing a new educational culture in Brazil, we discuss some aspects of the new professorial practices defended by the magazine.

Seguindo uma metodologia baseada na História Cultural, mostra que essa revista refletiu, durante o governo de Fernando Henrique Cardoso, a influência de fatores culturais como condicionantes de sua atuação. Em função disso, este estudo adota como hipótese central a ideia de que a Nova Escola assumiu a tarefa de fornecer insumo a uma nova cultura docente no Brasil. A partir daí, os autores se esforçam por conceituar cultura docente, além de relacionar alguns aspectos da nova prática professoral defendidos pela revista.
