Resumo: The research analyzed the performance of the Teacher Union from S??o Paulo (SINPRO-SP) during the last ten years at the civil-military dictatorship in the country (1975-1985), the redemocratization process was under construction and encountered political and economic obstacles for its achievement, forged on intense social conflicts with fundamental participation of the working class organized then. We endeavored to understand the participation of the teacher representative entity from private education network in S??o Paulo capital city in this important chapter of Brazilian history, confirming the understanding that the trajectory of a trade union organization has much to tell us about the context in which it is inserted, making possible the expansion of written pages about Brazilian education history during the dictatorship. The adopted theoretical frame of reference, Marxist inspiration, aimed at situating the teacher as an education worker, reminding us to analyze their union actions as a necessary task for us to have an expanded comprehension about the specificities of teaching activities, their relationships with the meanderings of educational policies and the way in which it attempted to intervene in the historical period of the so-called Brazilian democratic transition. Based on significant documentary fortunes, the performed analysis concerned not only to measure the dimension of the actions from the entity management board that remains worried in legitimizing the category corporatist purposes, as well as with the practices of those teachers who worked in the union opposition, engaged in the accomplishment of political actions and aligned with more general issues from the working class in Brazil.

Nos esforzamos en comprender la participaci??n de la entidad representativa de los profesores de las escuelas privadas de la ciudad de S??o Paulo en este importante cap??tulo de la historia de Brasil, de manera a reafirmar la idea de que la trayectoria de una organizaci??n sindical nos dice mucho sobre el contexto en la cual se inserta, y eso permite la ampliaci??n de las p??ginas escritas sobre la historia de la ense??anza brasile??a durante la dictadura. Las referencias te??ricas adoptadas, de inspiraci??n marxista, tuvieron el objetivo de ubicar el profesor como un trabajador de la educaci??n, lo que nos permite analizar sus acciones sindicales como una tarea necesaria para que tengamos una comprensi??n m??s amplia de las especificidades de las actividades docentes, sus relaciones con las complejidades de las pol??ticas educativas y de la manera como intervino en el per??odo hist??rico de la llamada transici??n democr??tica brasile??a. Con soporte en considerable fortuna documental, los an??lisis hechos se preocupan con dimensionar las acciones de los directivos de la entidad, que se manten??an en la defensa de los prop??sitos corporativos de la categor??a, y tambi??n con las pr??cticas de los profesores que actuaban en la oposici??n sindical, comprometidos con las efectivas acciones pol??ticas en consonancia con las cuestiones m??s generales de la clase obrera en el Brasil.A pesquisa analisou a atua????o do Sindicato dos Professores de S??o Paulo (SINPRO-SP) durante os ??ltimos dez anos da ditadura civil-militar no pa??s (1975-1985), momento no qual o processo de redemocratiza????o estava em constru????o e encontrava obst??culos pol??ticos e econ??micos para a sua consecu????o, forjado sobre intensos conflitos sociais, com fundamental participa????o da classe trabalhadora organizada.
