Resumo: Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School (Escola Nossa Senhora da Misericordia) implemented a Composition Project for Junior High students, in particularly students from the 5th to the 8th grade, due to their disinterest in reading texts pre-determined by the teacher. No matter the author or the kind of text to be studied, it would cause most of the times, dissatisfaction and consequently, diminishing the pleasure in reading, creating difficulties in writing texts, in their capability and competence of learning. Through a bi-weekly classes of composition, in conjunction with Portuguese classes, the program aimed to respond the students difficulties concerning the text language: ability and skills of writing, reading, spelling, vocabulary, and legible cursive writing. Thus, the Composition classes had as it main objective to offer the student opportunity to develop creative and critical ability, and social skills. It also aimed to work the grammar, through texts, the oral and the written languages and make the student familiar with the universe of texts, offering better opportunities to develop them with spontaneity and creativity, that is, to learn more about text production. Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School noticed the need of the students and tried to change its teaching guidelines. However, effective results caused by these changes have not been assessed yet. Opposing to reducionists conceptions regarding the written language and the meaning of its learning, the present study classifies it as a social production, and contribution to form the student's personality, as well. This would provide the student a rich, diversified and fluent language, which would develop his/her skills of comprehension, feeling, reflecting, acting and judging, allowing a broader form of interaction, awareness, social integration and (re) interpretation of the reality. The objective of this study will assess the impact of the introduction of the composition classes in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School, in the ability and skills of the writing production of the 7th grade students.

Trabalhar a gram??tica,utilizando textos, a linguagem verbal escrita e familiariz??-lo com o universo de textos, oferecendo melhor oportunidade de desenvolv??-los com espontaneidade e criatividade, enfim, a aprender mais sobre produ????o textual.O Col??gio Nossa Senhora da Miseric??rdia ao perceber as necessidades de seus alunos, buscou mudar seu comportamento.
