Resumo: One of the major challenges for humanity in this century is to transition to a future guided in the use of sustainable energy. Biofuels, especially ethanol from sugar cane is being collated as one of the best options for this goal. However, the production of ethanol from sugar cane, is associated with a number of significant environmental impacts, and has been the target of much criticism from the international market. In this sense, there is a need to demonstrate sustainability in the ethanol production chain to ensure that such alternative energy actually meets the requirements of sustainable development. There are various environmental management tools applied to the ethanol production chain, among these, we highlight the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Certification. The main objective of this research is to propose guidelines to promote closer ties between the Bonsucro Certification and Environmental Impact Studies applied to the sugarcane industry. The importance of this research lies in the possible future Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) sector may include aspects relevant to the environmental certification in sugarcane production chain. The methodology Qualitative Exploratory - Descriptive, through a case study multicase. The data collection instrument used is from reports focal semistructured interview and analyzed the principles of content analysis. The association between environmental management instruments showed that the points of greater dialogue on the content of EIA compared to the principles of certification are facing the issues of soil, water, biodiversity, ecological services and economic growth. The criteria of accreditation Bonsucro that bear no association with EIAs analyzed relate to socioeconomic, primarily related to labor issues, production expertise and qualification of skilled labor and monitoring the efficiency of production and process impacts. This research sees as potential for rapprochement between the EIA and the sugarcane industry Bonsucro enhance and substantiate the approach of social impacts in EIA, impacts mainly focused on labor issues accreditation. In terms of contributions of this research into practice within the professional master's degree, can provide technical guidance for the preparation of environmental impact studies of the sugar-energy sector, especially with regard to environmental impacts and approach in order to obtain the Bonsucro certification; guide the steps of diagnosis, identification and assessment of environmental impacts, as well as the proposition of environmental programs so as to facilitate the achievement of future Bonsucro accreditation during the operation of the business of the sugarcane sector; and encourage investment in the economy of the entire lifecycle of an enterprise's sugarcane industry, as the environmental variable, the appreciation of the potential of environmental management tools ( EIA and certification ) apply.

Os biocombust??veis, especialmente o etanol de cana-de-a????car vem sendo cotejado como uma das melhores op????es para tal objetivo. Entretanto, ?? produ????o do etanol da cana-de-a????car, associa-se uma s??rie de impactos ambientais significativos, e tem sido alvo de in??meras cr??ticas por parte do mercado internacional. Nesse sentido, h?? necessidade de demonstrar a sustentabilidade na cadeia produtiva do etanol a fim de garantir que tal alternativa energ??tica atenda de fato aos requisitos do desenvolvimento sustent??vel. Existem v??rias ferramentas de gest??o ambiental aplicadas ?? cadeia produtiva do etanol, dentre essas, destacam-se a Avalia????o de Impacto Ambiental (AIA) e a Certifica????o Ambiental. O objetivo principal desta pesquisa consiste propor orienta????es para promover uma maior aproxima????o entre a Certifica????o Bonsucro e os Estudos de Impacto Ambiental aplicados ao setor sucroenerg??tico. A import??ncia desta pesquisa reside na poss??vel que os futuros Estudos de Impacto Ambiental (EIAs) do setor possam incluir aspectos relevantes para a certifica????o ambiental na cadeia produtiva sucroenerg??tico. A metodologia utilizada Qualitativa, Explorat??rio-Descritiva, atrav??s de um Estudo de Caso Multicaso. O instrumento de coleta de dados utilizada ?? de fonte documental, entrevista focal e semiestruturadas, analisadas pelos princ??pios da An??lise de Conte??do. A associa????o entre os instrumentos de gest??o ambiental mostrou que os pontos de maior di??logo no conte??do do EIA comparado aos princ??pios da Certifica????o s??o os voltados para as quest??es do solo, ??gua, biodiversidade, servi??os ecol??gicos e crescimento econ??mico. Os crit??rios da certifica????o Bonsucro que n??o apresentam nenhuma associa????o com os EIAs analisados dizem respeito aos impactos socioecon??micos, relacionados principalmente a quest??es trabalhistas, produ????o de conhecimento especializado e qualifica????o de m??o-de-obra e monitoramento da efici??ncia da produ????o e do processo. Essa pesquisa visualiza como potencialidade de aproxima????o entre os EIAs do setor sucroenerg??tico e a certifica????o Bonsucro incrementar e consubstanciar a abordagem dos impactos sociais nos EIAs, principalmente impactos voltados para as quest??es trabalhistas. Em termos de contribui????es dessa pesquisa ?? pr??tica, no ??mbito do mestrado profissional, pode-se prover orienta????es t??cnicas para elabora????o de estudos de impacto ambiental do setor sucroenerg??tico, principalmente no tocante a abordagem de impactos socioambientais e com vistas ?? obten????o da certifica????o Bonsucro; orientar as etapas de diagn??stico, identifica????o e avalia????o de impactos socioambientais, bem como a proposi????o de programas ambientais de modo que a facilitar a futura obten????o da certifica????o Bonsucro durante a opera????o do empreendimento do setor sucroalcooleiro; e incentivar a economia de investimentos em todo o ciclo de vida de um empreendimento do setor sucroenerg??tico, quanto ?? vari??vel socioambiental, pela valoriza????o das potencialidades de instrumentos de gest??o ambiental (EIA e certifica????o) aplic??veis.Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-01T23:32:34Z (GMT).
