Resumo: This study is oriented to the reading of the traces of the cultural landscape in the area of monuments of Guanajuato, Mexico, specifically in the Plaza de la Paz and the Jardin de la Unión. The methodological framework incorporates geography, the interpretation of historical cartography and the review of initiatives from international institutions around the cultural landscape. The field work recorded the natural, urban and patrimonial footprints, as well as the works and urban projects of private investment carried out in the analysis unit. The findings contrast the profusion of research on the cultural landscape in mining areas and the lack of recent studies on the landscape of the city. The author concludes that to analyze the complexity of the cultural landscape in the area of monuments in the city of Guanajuato, it is necessary to form multidisciplinary teams.
