The theme of this article is legal protection for animals in Brazil: Considerations about the main legislative achievements. Investigate the following problem: "According to the main philosophical currents on animal law, such as laws defending human rights?" The following hypothesis was considered "despite the legislative evolution, animals still suffer from human cruelty". The general objective is "to present an animal rights theme from a historical, philosophical and moral perspective, punctuating as legislative achievements achieved". The specified objectives are: "to analyze the legal situation of the animals"; "Average effectiveness of standards"; "Point out as the main flaws that hinder the effectiveness of the laws". This work is important for an operator of the Law due to the improvement and knowledge of environmental issues; for science, it is relevant because it addresses a question of the limits of exploitation of irrational beings; adds to society by knowledge and awareness of the cause of animals. This is a qualitative theoretical research lasting six months.
