Much has been read in the media about the arena right of professional soccer players. However, little is known about the subject, even by the scarce doctrinal and jurisprudential material. The word "arena", which comes from Latin, means sand, used in the sporting arena, since antiquity, as a place covered with sand in which Roman gladiators fought each other or with animals. At that time, everyone went to the arena to watch the show. In Brazil, Arena Law itself was introduced into the legal system with the advent of Law no. 5,988 / 73, which regulates copyright. Before its creation, the clubs received nothing for the images generated by the sporting spectacle, which were transmitted by the mass media to every community for free.
