Resumo: In the comparison of the nutritional state of aged independent institutionalized and not institutionalized in the community of Erechim, RS, evaluated 60 aged of both sexos, being institutionalized 50%. Through mini nutritional evaluation (MNE), identified aspects of the nutritional state, the anthropometric profile and laboratorial examinations: qualitative test of urine, Albumin and Hemogram, indicating the lipid profile, of the aged ones of the research. The data had been analyzed by statistical methods with the use of the applicatory SPSS, version 11. In the comparison of the results between the two groups test “t” of student was applied; in the ratio difference the value of the coefficient of linear correlation was used. For significant differences considered the values of p £ 0,05. Of the 30 aged institutionalized, it had 15 (50%) women with average of age of 73,1 years and the 15 (50%) men with average of age of 70,5 years. Of the 30 aged ones not institutionalized, the average of age of the 26 (86. 66%) women was of 73,3 years and 65,2 years between the 4 (13. 34%) men. The statistical significant differences between the institutionalized ones and not institutionalizing in the age group of the 60 the 69, 9 years had been in the anthropometric pointers of body mass index, mid-upper arm circumference, waist circumference and triceps skinfold measurements, revealing lesser in the group institutionalized. And between the age group of 70 years or more the significant difference was in the variable calf circumference, revealing lesser in the institutionalized group. Of the laboratorial the variable the statistical significant differences had been of total cholesterol and LDL in the two groups, with the lesser average values in the institutionalized group, in the two age bands. It more had significant difference in the levels of HDL of the group of 70 years or, being that these values had been bigger in the group not institutionalized. Of the laboratorial the variable the statistical significant differences had been of total cholesterol and LDL in the two groups, with the lesser average values in the institutionalized group, in the two etárias bands. It more had significant difference in the levels of HDL of the group of 70 years or, being that these values had been bigger in the group not institutionalized. The triglycerides levels had also presented difference statistics and minors values in the institutionalized group, the age group of 70 years or more. The nutritional state of aged meets in literature few institutionalized and not institutionalized works comparing. The MNE demonstrated, as in many studies, to be a useful tool in the precocious diagnosis of nutricional risk in aged. In the comparison of the anthropometric and laboratorial variable, between the institutionalized and not institutionalized groups, the malnutrition risk is bigger in the institutionalized group, exactly that these analyzed variable if have presented with acceptable indices.

Made available in DSpace on 2013-08-07T18:56:40Z (GMT).
