Resumo: To characterize breast-feeding, 36 children up to one year from the primary health service have been investigated. Breast fet children evolute in accordance to the reference weight curve, however bottle-fet children present a dramatic weight increase with drastic percentil changes. In conclusion, although satisfactory grow, there is a need to nourisher orientation to avoid the common practice of early feed introduction.

In conclusion, although satisfactory grow, there is a need to nourisher orientation to avoid the common practice of early feed introduction.Com o objetivo de caracterizar o aleitamento materno, foram estudadas 36 crianças de até 12 meses de idade. A mediana de aleitamento materno exclusivo encontrada nessa população foi 2 meses. Observou-se que crianças com aleitamento materno exclusivo apresentam um acompanhamento perfeito do padrão de referência para peso. À maioria das crianças com alimentação artificial apresenta mudanças drásticas de percentis com rápido incremento de peso.
