The aim of the study was to describe the height of 928 schoolchildren from public schools in Barueri - São Paulo (Brazil), and to investigate the relationship between their height at 7 years old, their school performance and supplementary feeding program during infancy. The prevalence of linear growth deficit (<-1 Z score ht/age - NCHS) ranged in school was 18,5% with 2,7% of stunting (<-2 Z). There was a significativa association between school performance and deficit in height, although nothing was found between thesEi two variables and supplementary feeding. Children who did not follow a supplementary feeding program and had not attended pre-school before, are estimated to risk having a bad school performance 1,9 times higher; this risk was 2,5 times higher when the children had height deficit and had not gane to pre-school previously.
