School psychology and third-age students: some questions about scientific production

Resumo:  Permanent education for the elderly is being mostly offered by an increasing number of Universi­ ties ofthe Third Age. Nevertheless, school psycologists seem unaware of older leamers. Some hy­ pothesis that might explain the lack oftheoretical studies and research focusing aged students are examined in this article: (a) a reduced amount ofavaiable national literature on this specific matter; (b) disagreements on definitions regarding thc subjcct of thc educational process; (c) difficulties in establishing educational objectives, and (d) in assessing the fitness ofthese objectives in address­ ing potentially diverse needs and interests of a wide range of age groups.

Apesar disso, os psicólogos escolares parecem pouco atentos a esses aprendizes.
