Resumo: This study was aimed to verify thc e!Tects of direct and indirect consultation (through their teachers) upon students academic performance. The fifth grade year was selected due to the dificultiies usually associatcd with it. i.c., 1·cpetition and behavior problems. The sample was composed by 11O filth grade students and their Mathcmatic and Portuguese teachers. The research design was a following gro11p / (indirect consultation with students) developed with teachers thru planne and curriculurn supor! (12 scctions): gro11p li (direct consultation with students) developed thru group dinamic (21 scctions) and group Ili (cntrol). The instruments used were: Mental healt.h scale (validate for the study), classroom's observation,interview with teachers. The results of this study pontcd out that consultation can improve students performance and sprcd it's effects upon psychological adjustamcnt in the classroom.

The results of this study pontcd out that consultation can improve students performance and sprcd it's effects upon psychological adjustamcnt in the classroom.Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo verificar os efeitos da consultoria direta ao aluno e a indireta através de seus professores sobre o rendimento acadêmico dos alunos bi-rcpetentes da S3 série do l O grau. A amostra constitui-se de seis professores (três na área de matemática e três na área de português) e 11O alunos distribuídos do seguinte modo: grupo I (consultoria indireta ao aluno), junto aos professores através do apoio realizado ao planejamento e desenvolvimento curricular ( 12 sessões): grupo 11(consultoria direta aos alunos) através de dinâmica de grupo (21 sessões) e grupo Ili (controle)./\ coleta de dados foi realizada através dos seguintes instrumentos: Escala de Comportamento na Escola (respondida pelos alunos), observação em sala e entrevista com os professores, dentro de um delineamento experimental de pré e pós-teste.
