Resumo: This paper aims to analyze some questions related to the mental process ontology. We have synthesized three different approaches and described their main postulates. The three approaches are drawn from the computationalism, the Searle’s philosophy of mind and Penrose’s model based on quantum coherence in the cells microtubes. The article also discusses the difficulty to find definitive arguments about this concern. The actual state of ignorance about brain capacity to generate mental process is a great obstacle for any final conclusion.

Sintetizamos três diferentes enfoques e descrevemos seus principais postulados. Eles originam-se do computacionalismo, da filosofia da mente de Searle e do modelo de Penrose baseado na coerência quântica nos microtúbulos encontrados em todas as células. É também discutida a dificuldade de encontrar argumentos definitivos nesse debate.
