Resumo: In the current secularized context, religious manifestations are confined to the personal sphere. This concealment causes a difficulty in finding a meaning to human existence beyond the immanent. With this paper we intend, through the story Parker's Back by the southern author Flannery O'Connor, to show the value of literature and contemporary art as cathartic agents of society. To exemplify the relationship between aesthetics and religious experience. To analyze if mysticism and aesthetics are the two great ways for the encounter of two transcendent beings: God and the human being, sharer of divinity through the salvation of an incarnated God. As a result of the research it will be possible to prove that Beauty and Truth are linked to touch the mystery, expression used by Flannery O'Connor with which she intends to launch a message of hope to society.

Este ocultamiento provoca una dificultad a la hora de encontrar un sentido a la existencia humana más allá del inmanente. Con este trabajo pretendemos, a través del relato Parker’s Back de la autora sureña Flannery O’Connor, mostrar el valor de la literatura y del arte contemporáneo como agentes catárticos de la sociedad. Ejemplificar la relación entre la estética y la experiencia religiosa. Analizar si la mística y la estética son las dos grandes vías para el encuentro de dos seres trascendentes: Dios y el ser humano, partícipe de la divinidad por la salvación de un Dios encarnado. Como resultado de la investigación se podrá probar que Belleza y Verdad se vinculan para desde las maneras tocar el misterio, expresión utilizada por Flannery O’Connor con la que pretende lanzar un mensaje de esperanza a la sociedad.No actual contexto secularizado, as manifestações religiosas estão confinadas à esfera pessoal. Esta dissimulação torna difícil encontrar um significado para a existência humana para além do imanente. Com esta obra pretendemos, através da história Parker's Back do autor sulista Flannery O'Connor, mostrar o valor da literatura e da arte contemporânea como agentes catárticos da sociedade. Para exemplificar a relação entre a estética e a experiência religiosa. Analisar se o misticismo e a estética são os dois grandes caminhos para o encontro de dois seres transcendentes: Deus e o ser humano, compartilhador da divindade através da salvação de um Deus encarnado.
