Resumo: O nome de Aluísio Azevedo tem sido apontado pelas historiografias e pelos manuais escolares como o principal nome do Naturalismo no Brasil. Entrementes, cabe-nos perguntar: teria Azevedo escrito somenos literatura naturalista? Ou teria ele enveredado por outras vertentes literárias? O presente artigo se ocupará em responder tais questões, apresentando inclusive alguns aspectos de outro tipo de literatura produzida pelo autor.
