CAPTIVITY OF MATERNITY, DEVICE AND PEDAGOGY OF THE WOMAN-MOTHER: INITIAL REFLECTIONS

Resumo: The present work aims to reflect on motherhood as a space for the imprisonment of women-mothers, constituting what is postulated here as the captivity of motherhood. Added to this, disciplinary institutions, in order to keep women-mothers captive in this space, function as a device (FOUCAULT, 2004; 2014) of motherhood, monitoring and controlling behaviors, attitudes and modes of subjectivation of women-mothers. To this end, the device employs pedagogical strategies, especially through the media. Thus, in addition to promoting reflections in the light of discussions by Lagarde (2005), Badinter (1985) and Gilligan (2013), the work uses an experience report and in-depth interviews with women-mothers to, from the perspective of feminist epistemology, analyze motherhood beyond female biological determinism. As a consequence of this, it is clear that the woman-mother experiences her mothering and mothering from controlled subjectivities and to meet the ideal model of motherhood and thus be legitimized as a good mother.

Las instituciones disciplinarias, para mantener cautivas a las mujeres-madres en este espacio, funcionan como un dispositivo (FOUCAULT, 2004; 2014) de la maternidad, vigilando y controlando conductas, actitudes y modos de subjetivación de las mujeres-madres. Para ello, el dispositivo emplea estrategias pedagógicas, especialmente a través de los medios de comunicación. Así, además de promover reflexiones a la luz de las discusiones de Lagarde (2005), Badinter (1985) y Gilligan (2013), el trabajo utiliza un relato de experiencia y entrevistas en profundidad con mujeres-madres para, desde la perspectiva de epistemología, analizar la maternidad más allá del determinismo biológico femenino. Como consecuencia de ello, es claro que la mujer-madre vive su maternidad y maternidad desde subjetividades controladas y para cumplir con el modelo ideal de maternidad y así legitimarse como buena madre.  O presente trabalho visa refletir sobre a maternidade como espaço de aprisionamento das mulheres-mães, constituindo o que se postula como o cativeiro da maternidade. As instituições disciplinares a fim de manter as mulheres-mães cativas nesse espaço, funcionam como um dispositivo (FOUCAULT, 2004; 2014) da maternidade, vigiando e controlando comportamentos, atitudes e modos de subjetivação das mulheres-mães. Para tal, o dispositivo emprega estratégias de pedagogização, especialmente através da mídia. Desse modo, além de promover reflexões à luz das discussões de Lagarde (2005), Badinter (1985) e Gilligan (2013), o trabalho se utiliza de relato de experiência e de entrevistas em profundidade com mulheres-mães para, sob a ótica da epistemologia feminista, analisar a maternidade para além do determinismo biológico feminino.
