Resumo: This article studies the struggle for the defense of Human Rights in the Diocese of Cuarnavaca, Mexico, in conjunction with Canadian religious. For this, we trace a history of the incorporation of Human Rights in Catholic theology in the context of the Cold War and we seek to understand the international articulations of the ecclesiastical institution. In a complementary way, we analyze the diffusion of Ivan Illich’s ideas from his work at the Centro Intercultural de Documentación, in Mexico.
