BURNOUT SYNDROME AND MEANING OF LIFE IN TEACHERS

Resumo: | This article aimed to investigate the meaning of life and the profile of the burnout syndrome in public school teachers in the Greater Aracaju and cities in the interior of Bahia. The sample consisted of 243 Basic Education professionals. This is a quantitative, transversal and correlational research. The instruments used were: Socio-demographic Questionnaires, Burnout Clinical Subtype Questionnaires (BCSQ-12) and Meaning of Life Questionnaires (QSV). The selection of participants was based on convenience and the application took place in a mixed way (online using Google Forms and in-person interviews in the selected schools). The collected data were analyzed through descriptive and multivariate statistics through Jeffrey's Amazing Statistics Program (JASP). Through Spearman's correlation, it was possible to notice a negative relationship between meaning of life and the profiles of the burnout syndrome, evidencing the greater the meaning of life, the lower the level of burnout in teachers. It is possible to conclude, then, that reversing the burnout situation in teachers becomes viable when the meaning of life is recovered. Therefore, logotherapy can be a promising strategy to fill the existential gap and, consequently, move away from professional burnout and promote mental health. |

La muestra estuvo conformada por 243 profesionales de la Educación Básica. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: Cuestionario Sociodemográfico, Cuestionario de Subtipo Clínico de Burnout (BCSQ-12) y Cuestionario de Sentido de Vida (QSV). La selección de los participantes se basó en la conveniencia y la postulación se realizó de manera mixta (online y presencial). Los datos recolectados fueron analizados a través de estadística descriptiva y multivariada a través del Programa de Estadísticas Asombrosas de Jeffrey (JASP). A través de la correlación de Spearman, fue posible notar una relación negativa entre el sentido de la vida y los perfiles del síndrome de burnout, evidenciándose a mayor sentido de la vida, menor nivel de burnout en los docentes. Se concluye, entonces, que revertir la situación de burnout en los docentes se vuelve viable cuando se recupera el sentido de la vida. Por lo tanto, la logoterapia puede ser una estrategia prometedora para llenar el vacío existencial y, en consecuencia, alejarse del desgaste profesional y promover la salud mental.Este artigo teve por objetivo investigar o sentido de vida e o perfil da síndrome de burnout em professores da rede pública da Grande Aracaju e cidades do interior da Bahia. A amostra foi composta por 243 profissionais da Educação Básica. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho quantitativo, transversal e correlacional. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: Questionário ociodemográfico, Burnout Clinical Subtype Questionnaire (BCSQ-12) e Questionário de Sentido de Vida (QSV). A seleção dos participantes deu-se por conveniência e a aplicação ocorreu de forma mista (online, fazendo o uso do Google Forms, e presencial, nas escolas selecionadas). Os dados coletados foram analisados pelas estatítiscas descritivas e multivariadas por meio do Jeffrey’s Amazing Statistics Program (JASP). Pela correlação de Spearman, foi possível notar uma relação negativa entre sentido de vida e os perfis da síndrome de burnout, evidenciando que, quanto maior o sentido de vida, menor o nível de burnout nos professores. Conclui-se, então, que reverter o quadro de burnout em docentes torna-se viável quando se regasta o sentido de vida.
