Resumo: This article addresses the challenges of implementing smart cities in the face of socioeconomic inequalities, the social process of gentrification and approximation to sustainable development. In this, the question is: how can smart cities and should promote development through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? The hypothesis presented is that since this development does not necessarily have training, there is a risk of technological walls with the accentuation of inequalities. The specific objectives of analysis, at first, such as inequalities, the gentrification process in cities and the socio-spatial challenges of smart cities, and, in a second moment, highlight the inclusion of people, the redefinition of the economic paradigm and what attitudes should serve as a vector for the promotion of smart companies through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The methodology applied in this research is deductive in nature, based on a bibliographic review of materials published on the internet, scientific articles, dissertations and scientific articles.
