Resumo: In the epistemological trail of Cultural Studies (HALL, 2004; 2016) a fiction of the horror genre becomes the axis for understanding and analyzing the concept of religious intolerance. It is the american miniseries Midnight Mass whose conditions of representation, appropriation, intentions and symbolic disputes bring together the popular imagination and religious archetypes, allowing reflections on prejudices, stigmas and tensions that affect minority beliefs in our country , especially those of African origins. From this problematization, the reasoning undertaken seeks to corroborate the extraordinary power that stories “invented” for TV acquire in the construction of verisimilitude as immersive sources of intertextuality, plurality of voices and production of meanings (BULHÕES, 2009).

Se trata de la miniserie estadounidense Midnight Mass, cuyas condiciones de representación, apropiación, intenciones y disputas simbólicas aglutinan el imaginario popular y los arquetipos religiosos, permitiendo reflexionar sobre los prejuicios, estigmas y tensiones que afectan a las creencias minoritarias en nuestro país, en especial las de origen africano. A partir de esta problematización, el razonamiento emprendido busca corroborar el extraordinario poder que adquieren los relatos “inventados” para la TV en laconstrucción de la verosimilitud como fuentes inmersivas de intertextualidades, pluralidad de voces y producción de sentidos (BULHÕES, 2009).Na trilha epistemológica dos Estudos Culturais (HALL, 2004, 2016) uma ficção do gênero terror torna-se eixo para compreensão e análise da concepção de intolerância religiosa. Trata-se da minissérie americana Missa da Meia-Noite (Midnight Mass) cujas condições de representação, apropriação, intencionalidades e disputas simbólicas aproximam o imaginário popular e os arquétipos religiosos permitindo reflexões sobre preconceitos, estigmas e tensionamentos que afetam as crenças minoritárias no nosso país, especialmente as de matrizes africanas.
