Resumo: This paper aims to discuss duration as a cinematographic problem through a genealogical investigation on the concept of duration in film theory and criticism. It intends to discuss three important moments in which the term acquired significant theoretical and critical value, in order to investigate the original problems that shaped the concept and to appreciate its significance in the history of film.

El texto se propone comentar tres momentos importantes en que el término adquirió un importante valor teórico y crítico, con el fin de indagar los problemas originales que conformaron el concepto y apreciar su significatión en la historia del cine.Este artigo pretende discutir a duração como um problema cinematográfico, a partir de uma investigação genealógica sobre a formulação do conceito de duração na teoria e na crítica de cinema.
