Sports studies in the communication field: an overview and some proposal

Resumo: The article presents an overview of Communication studies related to sport. In order to do so, it starts with a brief international overview, followed by a discussion about the Brazilian scenario. The second part entitled “Perspectives”, points out contributions of the discipline to the Sport Studies (made by works from different academic areas) and presents a program for researching the topic from a communicational perspective. Finally the third section discusses how sport studies can contribute to the Communication field.

Para ello, comienza con un breve panorama internacional y, a continuación, discute la situación en Brasil. La segunda parte, titulada "Perspectivas", elabora las contribuciones de la disciplina para los Estudios del Deporte (compuesto por trabajos oriundos de diversas áreas) y presenta un programa de investigación para el tema desde una perspectiva comunicacional. Por último, la tercera sección discute de qué forma los estudios sobre el deporte pueden contribuir al área de Comunicación.O artigo tem por objetivo apresentar um panorama dos estudos da Comunicação relativos ao esporte. Para tanto, começa com um breve panorama internacional e, em seguida, discute a situação no Brasil. A segunda parte, intitulada “Perspectivas”, elenca as contribuições da disciplina para os Estudos do Esporte (composto por trabalhos oriundos de diversas áreas) e apresenta um programa de investigação para o tema sob uma perspectiva comunicacional.
