Resumo: The paper brings media literacy closer to gender studies with a critical and feminist perspective. Its objective is to understand how media education practices can also promote the deconstruction of gender stereotypes. The research has a qualitative and bibliographic character, with a methodology based on descriptive analysis. It discusses the notion of gender stereotype, followed by a literature review on media literacy. It presents five teaching practices, selected for their diversity both in relation to the media used (photography, music, film, television and advertising) and the regions where they were held (Brazil, United States of America, Taiwan, Canada and Ecuador). It concludes that it is possible to teach media skills and promote gender equity through critical practices that reject the disconnection between school and popular culture and the reproduction of stereotypes by promoting moments of reflection, debate, creativity and autonomy.

La investigación tiene un carácter cualitativo y bibliográfico, con una metodología basada en el análisis descriptivo. Discute la noción de estereotipo de género, seguida de una revisión de la literatura sobre educación mediática. Presenta cinco prácticas de enseñanza, seleccionadas por su diversidad tanto en términos de medios (fotografía, música, cine, televisión y publicidad) como de regiones de realización (Brasil, Estados Unidos de América, Taiwán, Canadá y Ecuador). Concluye que es posible enseñar habilidades mediáticas y promover la deconstrucción de los estereotipos de género a través de prácticas críticas que rechacen la desvinculación de la escuela con la cultura popular y la reproducción de estereotipos al promover momentos de reflexión, debate, creatividad y autonomía.O trabalho aproxima a educação midiática dos estudos de gênero com uma perspectiva crítica e feminista. Seu objetivo é compreender de que forma práticas de mídia-educação podem também promover a desconstrução de estereótipos de gênero. A pesquisa tem caráter qualitativo e bibliográfico, com metodologia pautada na análise descritiva. Discute a noção de estereótipo de gênero, seguida de uma revisão de literatura sobre educação midiática. Apresenta cinco práticas de ensino, selecionadas pela sua diversidade tanto em relação aos meios (fotografia, música, filme, televisão e propaganda) quanto às regiões de realização (Brasil, Estados Unidos da América, Taiwan, Canadá e Equador).
