Life forms in image: from indeterminacy to inconstancy

Resumo: From reality shows to personal web videos, from social networks to games, from documentary films to contemporary art experiences, ordinary life is being called, stimulated and provoked to participate and interact in a constant self-performance. Therefore images become a biopolitical place in which life forms perform. Facing that diagnosis, shared by other authors, this text proposes a conceptual map, still a work in progress, of a research program. In order to do so, we characterize such performance in the sphere of advanced capitalism and, further on, in the scope of Amerindian cultures. By such differentiation, we intend to better understand some deadlocks of critical thinking when facing different ways in which life has been currently creating and modulating itself through image.

Las imágenes se convierten, así, en un lugar biopolítico, en el cual se realizaron formas de vida. Ante este diagnóstico, que se comparte con otros autores, el texto propone el mapa conceptual, aún abierto, de un programa de investigación. Para ello, caracterizamos esa performance en el dominio del capitalismo avanzado y, más adelante, en el ámbito de las culturas amerindias. A partir de esta diferenciación, pretendemos entender mejor algunos impasses del pensamiento crítico ante los modos como, actualmente, la vida se crea y se modula en la imagen.Dos shows de realidade aos vídeos pessoais na internet, das redes sociais aos games, dos documentários às experiências de arte contemporânea, a vida ordinária é convocada, estimulada, provocada a participar e interagir, em uma constante performance de si mesma. As imagens tornam-se, assim, um lugar biopolítico, no qual se performam formas de vida. Diante desse diagnóstico, que se compartilha com outros autores, o texto propõe o mapa conceitual, ainda em aberto, de um programa de pesquisa. Para tanto, caracterizamos essa performance no domínio do capitalismo avançado e, mais adiante, no âmbito das culturas ameríndias.
