Resumo: | The permanent presence of digital means of communication in all aspects of life has affected editorial’s production, which goes through deep instability and transformation due to new digital mechanisms of editing and content distribution. Five movements act in this process: dematerialization, media convergence, digital piracy, self-publishing and drop in book sales. In this new scenario, social media emerges as an alternative means of propaganda and distribution of content, as well as an open platform, innovating to create literary output. The research sought to identify how traditional model of editing relates itself with digital social media, to therefore evaluate the role that editors might accomplish in this circumstance. It has also outlined emerging publishing models and evaluated in which way these five movements associate to the involvement of the readers in social media. Thus, it was concluded that independent authors’ growth is a great challenge to the editor’s role. |
