Resumo: In this article we will reflect on the dimension of the popular in modern culture, with the aim of highlighting the constitution of the imagery of urban sociability. Then we will see how the ordinary people who frequent the streets on a daily basis live and resist the processes of industrialization of culture from their own instruments that were supposed to be annihilating popular culture. We will present the NGO Girls and Women of Morro, an entity organized by community leaders of the Community of Candelaria, favela Mangueira, in Rio de Janeiro.

Em seguida, vamos ver como os indivíduos comuns, que freqüentam as ruas cotidianamente, vivem e criam resistências aos processos de industrialização da cultura a partir de instrumentos próprios que um dia supostamente estariam aniquilando a cultura popular.
