Resumo: This article analyzes the profile of social work students in contexts of massification of university education in Uruguay, which has implied a progressive process of modification in the volume and structure of social, cultural, and economic capital of students during the last thirty years. The self-administered questionnaires applied to a representative sample of students of Social Work Bachelor’s Degree in 2013, 2016, 2018, and 2021 would seem to indicate that this transformation would be related to the process of universalization of public higher education in the country that has involved the entry of social sectors that, during most of the twentieth century, did not have access to university. This good news has its counterpart in the massification of some of the undergraduate courses offered by the University of the Republic without a corresponding increase in resources to cope with the over-demand. Virtual education further increased the process of massification, given that students were able to study and be evaluated without changing their place of residence. On the other hand, this increase in the number of students was accompanied by an increase in stress and teacher exhaustion to offer quality teaching through incorporating new technological resources that not all of them could handle with solvency.

Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2023-03-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fass/article/view/4325810.15448/1677-9509.2023.1.43258Textos & Contextos (Porto Alegre); Vol. 22 No. 1 (2023): Single Volume ; e43258Textos & Contextos (Porto Alegre); v. 22 n. 1 (2023): Número Único ; e432581677-950910.15448/1677-9509.2023.1reponame:Textos & contextos (Porto Alegre)instname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSspahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fass/article/view/43258/27944http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGonzález Laurino, CarolinaSande Muletaber, SandraZorrilla de San Martín Cerutti, Santiago2023-12-22T13:57:17Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/43258Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fassPUBhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fass/oaitextos@pucrs.br1677-95091677-9509opendoar:2023-12-22T13:57:17Textos & contextos (Porto Alegre) - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
