Resumo: This paper intends to evaluate the representations and symbolism of spaces, showing their relations with processes of violence, disillusionment and resistance in the short story “Tio me dá só cem”, by João Melo. To this end, we will highlight the presentation of life on the streets and the narrator’s condition of subalternity, starting from the relationship he establishes with such space. By analyzing the space and its implications in the construction of the characters we will have a perspective of the representation of chaos in the fictional society, very taxing of the real one, making evident the representation of a society that, in crisis, lives the impacts of war, neocolonialism and capitalism.
