Reflections on Education for Global Citizenship in the education of undergraduate students

Resumo: This study aims to analyse the perception of Higher Education faculty members about Education for Global Citizenship in the process of training students. This research is identified as a qualitative study, of a descriptive character and with a case study approach. In order to perform the data collection an online questionnaire was used and the data was analyzed according to the principles of content analysis. Through the faculty members’ perceptions, it was possible to identify that they have an understanding of the principles of Education for Global Citizenship, as well as are concerned with the development of citizens committed to tolerance and understanding, aiming at building a more fair and solidary society. Thus, Higher Education can promote an education capable of preparing students for the challenges of the local and global context in which they are inserted, through innovative pedagogical practices, focused at training students in a holistic approach.

Esta investigación se caracteriza como un estudio cualitativo, de carácter descriptivo y con enfoque de estudio de caso. Para la realización de la recogida de datos se utilizó un cuestionario online, y los datos fueron analizados conforme principios del análisis de contenido. A través de las percepciones de los docentes, fue posible identificar que ellos tienen el entendimiento sobre los principios de la Educación para la Ciudadanía Global, así como están preocupados con la formación de ciudadanos comprometidos con la tolerancia y la comprensión, para construir una sociedad más justa y solidaria. Por lo tanto, la Educación Superior puede promover una educación. Así, la Educación Superior puede promover una educación capaz de preparar a los estudiantes para los desafíos del contexto local y global en el que se insertan, a través de prácticas pedagógicas innovadoras, que apunten a la formación del estudiante de manera holística.O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a percepção dos docentes da educação superior sobre a Educação para a Cidadania Global no processo de formação dos estudantes. Esta pesquisa se caracteriza como um estudo qualitativo, de caráter descritivo e com abordagem de estudo de caso. Para a realização da coleta de dados foi utilizado um questionário online, e os dados foram analisados conforme princípios da análise de conteúdo. Através das percepções dos docentes, foi possível identificar que eles têm o entendimento sobre os princípios da Educação para a Cidadania Global, assim como estão preocupados com a formação de cidadãos comprometidos com a tolerância e a compreensão, visando a construção de uma sociedade mais justa e solidária.
