Resumo: | This paper discusses the relationship between love and education in the Summa theologica of Thomas Aquinas, in order to highlight the importance of love as a principle for human development. The Dominican theologian analyzes the characteristics of love in the first section of the second part of the Summa and highlights its importance for man and society. Love, being one of the passions of the soul that makes us able to act, is in thomasian perspective, closely related to knowledge and reflective thinking, for reason is the element by which we can establish the common good as an essential principle of our actions. We seek, as a theoretical and methodological basis, the assumptions of social history so that we could analyze the objective in a perspective of totality, since love albeit a singular feeling is in potentially all people. |

El teólogo dominico analiza las características del amor en la primera sección de la segunda parte de la Summa y destaca su importancia para el hombre y la sociedad. El amor, por ser una de las pasiones del alma que nos hace capaces de actuar, está en tomasiana perspectiva, estrechamente relacionado con el conocimiento y la reflexión, de la razón es el elemento por el cual podemos establecer el bien común como un principio esencial de nuestras acciones. Para fundamentarnos en teórica y metodológicamente, buscamos los supuestos de la Historia Social de modo que pudiéramos analizar la perspectiva objetiva de la totalidad, ya que el amor, incluso si un sentimiento natural, está potencialmente en todas las personas.Neste artigo, aborda-se a relação entre amor e educação na Suma teológica de Tomás de Aquino, a fim de destacar a importância do amor como princípio para a formação humana. O teólogo dominicano analisa as características do amor na primeira seção da segunda parte da Suma e evidencia sua importância para o homem e para a sociedade. Sendo uma das paixões da alma que nos torna capazes de agir, o amor está, na perspectiva tomasiana, intimamente relacionado ao conhecimento e ao pensamento reflexivo, pois a razão é o elemento pelo qual se pode estabelecer o bem comum como princípio essencial das ações.
