Resumo: | The present article aims to identify how the development of teaching competences in higher education occurs. Data collection was performed through a descriptive research, applied through the virtual platform of “Google Forms”. The sample consisted of 199 teachers who work in public and private universities in the state of Santa Catarina, being collected for accessibility and convenience. Through the statistical technique of multiple regression, it was shown that institutional support was presented as a predictor exclusively for the development of general skills and self-learning was shown as a predictor only for the development of teaching, research and general competences. It was also noted the need to expand the development of extension and management skills in educational institutions, through institutional support or self-learning. |

La recolección de datos fue realizada por medio de una investigación descriptiva, aplicada por intermedio de la plataforma virtual de los “Google Forms”. La muestra fue compuesta por 199 docentes que actúan en universidades públicas y privadas en el estado Santa Catarina, siendo recolectada por accesibilidad y conveniencia. Por medio de la técnica estadística de regresión múltiple, se evidenció que el soporte institucional se presentó como predictor exclusivamente para el desarrollo de competencias generales y el autoaprendizaje se demostró como predictor sólo para el desarrollo de competencias de enseñanza, investigación y competencias generales. Se constató también la necesidad de ampliar el desarrollo de las competencias de extensión y gestión en las instituciones de enseñanza, a través del soporte institucional o del autoaprendizaje.O presente artigo tem como objetivo identificar como ocorre o desenvolvimento das competências docentes no ensino superior. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de uma pesquisa descritiva, aplicada por intermédio da plataforma virtual do “Google Forms”. A amostra foi composta por 199 docentes que atuam em universidades públicas e privadas no estado Santa Catarina, sendo coletada por acessibilidade e conveniência. Por meio da técnica estatística de regressão múltipla, evidenciou-se que o suporte institucional se apresentou como preditor exclusivamente para o desenvolvimento de competências gerais e a autoaprendizagem demonstrou-se como preditora apenas para o desenvolvimento de competências de ensino, pesquisa e competências gerais.
