Resumo: Saramagian scholars are aware of the close relation between this Romantic’s fiction and History, better yet, the truths told by Official History. In this paper the threshold between fictional and Historic speeches is dissected according to liturgical and historic times – present on the work Baltasar and Blimunda (1982). To Saramago, it is fundamental “To see yesterday’s time with today’s eyes”. This phrase highlights the thematic on which several of the author’s works are based. The objective was to analyze the importance of liturgy and History on his works’ plots through bibliographic analysis of narratology and Historic theorists, not excluding the religious character, background both in 17th century Portugal and of Baltasar and Blimunda.

En este artículo, los umbrales entre los discursos ficcional e Histórico son desmenuzados a partir de los tiempos históricos y litúrgicos presentes en la obra Memorial del convento (1982). Para Saramago es fundamental “Ver el tiempo de ayer con ojos de hoy”1. Tal proposición pone en vista la temática en la cual múltiples obras del autor se basan. El objetivo es analizar la importancia de la liturgia e de la historia para enredo de la obra saramaguiana por el análisis bibliográfico de teóricos tanto de la narratología cuanto de la Historia, no se excluyendo también el sesgo religioso, plano de fundo de Portugal del siglo XVIII de Memorial del convento.       conventoAqueles que se dedicam aos estudos saramaguianos são sabedores da estreita relação entre a ficção do romancista com a História, ou melhor, com as verdades contadas pela História oficial. Para Saramago é fundamental “Ver o tempo de ontem com os olhos de hoje”3. Tal frase evidencia-nos a temática na qual múltiplas obras do autor se alicerçam.
