PLAN OF THE PROGRESS AND CITIES: Curitiba one of the first decades of the XX century

Resumo: In this article, the author investigates the "idea of the city" present in Curitiba during the three first decades of 20th Century. Considering that to idealize a city means to propose its ordering, it is necessary to know the social conceptions, which guide the building of the urban space, as well as to apprehend the meanings given to it. In order to do that, the article discusses the existence of a relationship between positivistic ideas expressed in a belief in progress and the transformations of urban space in Curitiba at that time.

En este artículo, el autor investiga la "idea de la ciudad" presente en Curitiba durante las tres primeras décadas del siglo 20. Considerando que idealizar la ciudad significa proponer su pedido, es necesario conocer las concepciones sociales, que guían la construcción del espacio urbano, así como para aprehender los significados dados a ella. Con el fin de hacer eso, el artículo discute la existencia de una relación entre las ideas positivistas expresadas en la creencia en el progreso y en las transformaciones delespacio urbano en Curitiba en ese momento. Neste artigo, o autor investiga a “ideia da cidade” presente em Curitiba durante as três primeiras décadas do século 20. Considerando que idealizar uma cidade significa propor a sua ordenação, é necessário conhecer as concepções sociais, que orientam a construção do espaço urbano, bem como apreender os significados atribuídos a ele.
