Resumo: We intend to analyze the appropriations of the 1831 Law by public prosecutors in the Legal Suits for Freedom in Rio Grande do Sul, in the second half of nineteenth century, particularly, when defending the freedom of slaves who had lived temporarily with their masters in the countries of the Platine Region and who had returned to the Brazilian Empire.

Se analiza la apropiación de la Ley del 7 de noviembre de 1831 por los administradores públicos en los procesos de la libertad en Rio Grande do Sul, en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, sobre todo en la defensa de la libertad de los esclavos que vivían temporalmente con sus amos en los países de Plata y posteriormente fueron devueltos al Imperio.Trata-se de analisar as apropriações da Lei de 7 de novembro de 1831 por curadores públicos nos processos de liberdade no Rio Grande do Sul, na segunda metade do século XIX, particularmente na defesa da liberdade de escravos que residiram temporariamente com seus senhores nos países do Prata e que, posteriormente, retornaram ao Império.
