The Brazil-Portugal break at the time of the Revolt of the Armada

Resumo: The Revolta da Armada was an important occurrence in the political Brazilian scenery by the time of the change of government form. It influenced both the internal and the external politics of the rising Brazilian Republic. In these circumstances, the foreign intervention together with the movement of the rebels would be decisive for the destiny of the rebellion. When the government controlled the rebellion and the rebels took refuge in Portuguese ships, there was a shake within the relations between Brazil and Portugal, causing the diplomatic rupture.

En este contexto, la intervención extranjera junto con la acción de los rebeldes sería decisiva para el destino del movimiento, con la victoria gobernante. A partir de la derrota rebelde y del asilo otorgado a los buques portugueses, desencadenó un estremecimiento en las relaciones luso-brasileñas que darían lugar a la ruptura diplomática entre Brasil y Portugal.A Revolta da Armada constituiu-se num evento marcante da vida política brasileira à época da mudança na forma de governo, afetando tanto as estruturas internas quanto a política externa da incipiente República Brasileira. Neste quadro, a intervenção estrangeira junto à ação dos revoltosos seria decisiva para os destinos do movimento, com a vitória governista.
