Resumo: Fashion photography, especially after the 1960s, has freed itself from the task of representing fashion as commodity, becoming experimental or unconventional, and further, narrowing its relations with art. It also characterizes fashion photography, the fact that, today, in addition to its commercial purposes, it has a consent to discuss issues that other types of images do not present.The aim of this article is to discuss the possibilities of using fashion photographs in academic research and the issues they generate in terms of beauty, gender and age.

También caracteriza la fotografía de moda, el hecho de que, hoy, además de los propósitos comerciales, tiene un consentimiento para discutir temas y pautas que otros tipos de imagen no presentan.El objetivo del artículo es discutir las posibilidades del uso de las fotografías de moda en las investigaciones académicas y las cuestiones que ellas engendran en lo que se refiere a temas como belleza, género y edad.A fotografia de moda, especialmente após a década de 1960, se libertou da tarefa de representar a moda como mercadoria, tornando-se experimental ou não convencional e estreitando ainda mais as suas relações com a arte. Também caracteriza a fotografia de moda, o fato de que, hoje, para além dos propósitos comerciais, possui um consentimento para discutir temas e pautas que outros tipos de imagem não apresentam.
