Resumo: | This article aims to discuss the possibility of photo romance had been a space in the perpetuation of values, woman and man ways of being, sharing, thus, the subjectivity of constitution of their readers. Therefore, we analyzed twenty photo romance broadcast in Capricho magazine, copies of the 1950s and 1960s. The material analysis allowed that some functions of photo romance were identified: participation in the process of urbanization and modernization of its readers, evasion space / escape from daily activities and also dissemination of moral codes and conduct. Finally, it is noteworthy that despite the existence of a normative discourse, one cannot ignore the agency of readers. The ownership of broadcast content must be understood as an active process and, therefore, allows for different interpretations and appropriations of the same story. |

Con este fin, se analizaron veinte fotonovelas publicadas en copias de la revista Capricho de las décadas de 1950 y 1960. El análisis del material permitió identificar algunas funciones de las fotonovelas: participación en el proceso de urbanización y modernización de sus lectores, espacio para escapar / escapar de actividades diarias y también la difusión de códigos y conductas morales. Finalmente, debe notarse que a pesar de la existencia de un discurso normativo, no se puede ignorar la agencia de los lectores. La apropiación de los contenidos transmitidos debe entenderse como un proceso activo que, por esta razón, permite diferentes interpretaciones y apropiaciones de la misma historia.Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir a possibilidade de as fotonovelas terem sido um espaço de perpetuação de valores, de modos de ser mulher e homem, participando, assim, da constituição de subjetividades de suas leitoras. Para tanto, foram analisadas vinte fotonovelas veiculadas em exemplares da revista Capricho das décadas de 1950 e 1960. A análise do material permitiu que fossem identificadas algumas funções das fotonovelas: participação no processo de urbanização e modernização de suas leitoras, espaço de evasão/fuga das atividades cotidianas e, ainda, disseminação de códigos morais e de conduta. Por fim, cabe ressaltar que apesar da existência de um discurso normatizador, não se pode desconsiderar a agência das leitoras.
