Resumo: | From 1962 to 1993, Jornal do Brasil published “Coluna do Castello”, signed by journalist Carlos Castello Branco, one of the most prestigious references of political journalism in the country. It was read by intellectuals, politicians and the military, as well as intelligence and security agents. In this article I analyze how the journalist participated in the debate on human rights in the first years after the AI-5, from 1969 to 1973. From the intersection between law, politics and history, the journalist found ways to publicize violations of rights in the dictatorship. As an intellectual mediator, Castello was engaged in spreading the fundamentals of the rule of law and sought to make intelligible the political-legal principles that guarantee human rights. From the common challenge of resistance to dictatorship through the circulation of reports on human rights violations in the press, it is possible to observe the existence of relations of solidarity and distinction between liberal journalists and left-wing militants. |

Era leída por intelectuales, políticos y militares, así como por agentes de información y seguridad. En ese artículo procuro mostrar cómo el periodista Carlos Castello Branco participó del debate sobre derechos humanos en los primeros años después del AI-5, de 1969 a 1973. A partir de la intersección entre derecho, política e historia, el periodista buscó maneras de divulgar las violaciones de derechos humanos en la dictadura. Como intelectual mediador, Castello se involucró en la divulgación de fundamentos del Estado de derecho y trató de dar inteligibilidad a los principios político-jurídicos que garantizan los derechos humanos. A partir del desafío común de resistencia a la dictadura a través de la circulación de denuncias de violaciones de derechos humanos en la prensa, es posible observar la existencia de relaciones de solidaridad y de distinción entre periodistas liberales y militantes de izquierda.De 1962 a 1993, o Jornal do Brasil publicou a “Coluna do Castello” que, assinada pelo jornalista Carlos Castello Branco, era uma das referências mais prestigiosas do jornalismo político no País. Os textos eram lidos por intelectuais, políticos e militares, assim como por agentes de informação e segurança. Neste artigo procuro mostrar como o jornalista Carlos Castello Branco participou do debate sobre direitos humanos nos primeiros anos após o AI-5, de 1969 a 1973. A partir da interseção entre direito, política e história, o jornalista buscou maneiras de divulgar as violações de direitos humanos na ditadura. Como intelectual mediador, Castello se engajou na divulgação de fundamentos do Estado de direito e procurou dar inteligibilidade aos princípios político-jurídicos que garantem os direitos humanos.
